About the Event

The core aim of this 2-day hybrid event is to bring the leaders in governance, logistics and trade together.

Collectively, we stand on the cusp of change moving from an old world into a new one. Established operations are changing, new demands are being forced on the supply chain, and new issues – social, cultural, and environmental – have much greater importance.

The aim of our forthcoming conference isn’t simply to disregard our established practices in the sector; it is to optimise the current processes as there is much wisdom in our current models. The idea is to get a broad range of insights from thought-leaders, suppliers, customers, and industry experts to ascertain where we can evolve, and where we must conserve.

This hybrid event will have both physical and online sessions over 2 action-packed days in which every voice is championed, healthy debate is fostered, and all points-of-view considered.

Because of the hybrid nature of the event, attendees will be able to ask questions in person, digitally or via a private online messenger.

The key themes of this event will include:

  • Digitization & e-Commerce
  • Innovation & New Technologies
  • Sustainability
  • Integrated Shipping & Logistics
  • Securing the Supply chain
  • Small & medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • Cold Chain Optimization (pharma, carbon neutrality, food loss and waste)
  • Social, cultural change and geo-political effects (equality & inclusion, the rise of women in logistics, young talent, employee safety, health & wellbeing)
  • Verticals (FMCG, Retail, Manufacturing & Petrochemical)

Agenda

Day 1

The event host will welcome delegates, speakers, and viewers online with a warm welcome message outlining the aim for the event and the general structure as well as summarising key take-aways and action points from the previous Future of Logistics Conference in November 2021.

An Industry executive will provide an overview for the vision of the event

THE STATE OF PLAY TODAY – PORTS, LOGISTICS & AIR CARGO AS AN INTEGRATED WHOLE

This first session will see key industry experts from a diverse range of fields provide a clear insight into the state of the supply chain.

This will offer attendees a cutting-edge review of the vital issues we all need to be aware of, as well as provide a foundation for an open conversation on the meta issues that are most important to individuals across the sector. The session will examine the impact of the pandemic on the supply chain and lessons learned thereof. Global trade and logistics have been thrown out of synchronisation with the movement of goods often not able to keep up with trade.

The session will focus on how logistics operations have changed today and how they will change again when the chaos is reduced and things come back to “normal.” The key aim here is to allow differing players in unique areas to speak openly about their challenges and how they feel operations can be improved, as well as to gain perspective on broader issues within the integrated chain itself.

  1. Structure: 7-min speaker presentations and Q&A from the floor/online
  2. Key Themes: Supply Chain Management/Operations, Impact of the pandemic, Macro-economics, sustainability, political considerations, collaboration, integrated logistical systems, shipping, trucking, port management, freight forwarding, technology, customs.

Moderators questions for this session are available upon request.

A LOOK TO THE FUTURE – HOW CAN TECHNOLOGY HELP (OR HINDER) OPERATIONS

This session looks to the breaking new exponential technologies and systems that have the potential to change how we work. Yet, we explore the impact of such changes both good and bad, as well as looking into the perspectives of the people using new technologies on the ground in the FMCG, retail and e-Commerce sectors.

SECURING THE SUPPLY CHAIN

As more goods of higher value are moved further and faster across the globe securing their safe transport every step of the way is critical to creating a safe and secure and seamless operation through-out the supply chain. With digital technologies like blockchain and IoT being deployed today cybersecurity has also come sharply into focus. This session will have experts from cargo security, technology and cybersecurity explore current and future trends and technologies that secure our cargo as it is transported from source to final destination.

A NEW ARRAY OF TALENT: EQUALITY, INCLUSION & EMPOWERMENT

We now inhabit the ‘global’ world. This means we have individuals travelling to new regions to work in new cultural settings, as well as teams from other sides of the earth working together as one. While we recognise the inherent progress in this, we should also be mindful of issues such as inclusion, equality, and the promotion of women in the supply chain. This session ventures to explore how paying heed to cultural difference and ensuring everyone is included equally can create a thriving supply chain for all.
